Corporate Social Responsibility is most impactful when it changes real lives. At the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, we believe in investing in the future, and the future begins with our young people.
Through a strategic collaboration with LEARNTOR Foundation, PSSDC proudly supported the implementation of the TechUp Boys Initiative across public secondary schools in Education District I, delivering measurable impact and creating new pathways of hope for thousands of students.
About the TechUp Boys Initiative
TechUp Boys is a structured youth empowerment programme designed to equip indigent SS2 boys (ages 14–19) with practical digital skills, leadership development, emotional intelligence, and ethical digital citizenship.
In a time when many young people face increased vulnerability to cybercrime, cultism, and other social vices, the initiative provides viable alternatives; digital literacy, personal development, and mentorship that enable positive life choices.
The programme combines school sensitization, structured online learning, mentorship support, and intensive bootcamp experiences.
Implementation Highlights & Measurable Impact
Since its launch in Education District I, the initiative has recorded significant milestones:
- 39 public secondary schools visited
- 12,960 SS2 boys sensitized through in-school engagements and awareness sessions
- From this pool, 1,560 students enrolled in a structured 6-week online training programme covering:
- Introduction to Data & Data Mindset
- Excel (Data Literacy & Basic Analytics)
- Bookkeeping & Inventory Management
- Leadership & Emotional Intelligence
- Social Media Responsibility & Ethical Digital Footprint
- Mentorship and accountability support
- 3 hands-on bootcamp cohorts hosted at PSSDC Magodo, providing practical, project-based learning and classroom instruction.
These numbers are not just statistics, they represent young lives gaining direction, skills, and renewed confidence.
PSSDC’s CSR Contribution
PSSDC Magodo provided facility support, classrooms, and technical coordination that significantly strengthened the delivery and quality of the programme.
The in-kind support provided by PSSDC is estimated at over ₦13,000,000 per cohort, covering venue facilities and technical infrastructure. Beyond providing physical space, PSSDC also supported classroom coordination alongside faculty members to ensure effective learning experiences.
