PSSDC Muslim Community Holds 5th Annual Ramadan Lecture

The Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) Muslim Community recently held its 5th Annual Ramadan Lecture, themed “Addressing Moral Decadence Through Islamic Ethics and Values,” at the PSSDC Library Hall. Since its inception in 2019, the annual lecture series has explored critical topics pertinent to the Muslim community and beyond.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Ibrahim Agbaje, representative of the Chairman of the planning committee, highlighted the significance of the lecture series, noting that it has become a cherished tradition for the PSSDC Muslim Community. This year’s guest speaker, Hon. Justice Abdul-Raheem Ahmad Sayi, Kadi of the Shariah Court of Appeal in Kwara State, delivered an insightful lecture on the chosen theme.

Hon. Justice Sayi emphasized that values such as mercy, love, fairness, truthfulness, forgiveness, a sense of shame, and the confidence to do what is right are essential for all Muslim faithful to embrace. He underscored that Muslims should adhere to the standards set by Allah, as Islamic ethics influence all aspects of life, including communication, business, and social interactions. Additionally, he pointed out that Islam discourages indiscriminate mingling of genders.

Mr. Olusola Ayodele Kolawole, representing the Director-General of PSSDC, reiterated the importance of Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, as a Holy month dedicated to fasting and prayer. He urged both Muslims and Christians at the Centre to pray during this Holy month for the peace and prosperity of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
