PSSDC Seeks Collaboration for Enhanced Service Delivery

The Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), led by Director General Mr. Adekunmilola Adio-Moses, recently held a strategic meeting with the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Ali-Balogun, to explore collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing service delivery.

In addressing concerns within the Learning and Development sector, Mr. Ali-Balogun proposed the establishment of a School of Public Policy affiliated with Lagos State University. He also suggested that PSSDC could collaborate with examination bodies such as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the West African Examination Council (WAEC), and the National Examinations Council (NECO) to facilitate Computer Based Test (CBT) examinations.

Furthermore, the Commissioner highlighted several critical areas requiring attention in the educational sector, including leadership, cultural shifts, and the low career esteem among teachers. He emphasized the need for teachers to adapt and improve their skills in response to changing times. To address these issues, he recommended that PSSDC incorporate training modules on counseling, emotional intelligence, public relations, and digitalization into their learning and development programs.

Mr. Ali-Balogun expressed his commitment to exploring possibilities for more comprehensive training programs and collaborations between PSSDC and organizations such as the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). He also advised PSSDC to market itself to the private sector to expand its reach and impact.

In response, Mr. Adekunmilola Adio-Moses appreciated the Commissioner for his insights and expressed optimism about the potential for fruitful collaborations.
