PSSDC Trains Public Servants on Emotional Intelligence

The Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) has launched a two-day program titled “Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace.” This initiative aims to equip public servants with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in their roles and become emotionally intelligent leaders.

Director-General of PSSDC, Mr. Adekunmilola Adio-Moses, emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence as a fundamental tool for effective communication, constructive conflict resolution, and successful team building. “By unlocking the power of emotional intelligence, we can foster a collaborative, inclusive, and productive work environment,” he stated.

Mr. Adio-Moses underscored the need for participants to become informed and effective change agents within their respective fields, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). He noted that the program would cover a range of topics, including understanding and explaining emotional intelligence, identifying its four key components, exploring it as a tool for conflict resolution, developing essential skills for effective communication, and practicing best practices to foster clear and impactful communication.

“Participants will gain valuable insights from our experienced and resourceful facilitators,” Mr. Adio-Moses added. “We encourage them to actively participate, share ideas, and challenge their perspectives.”

The program’s interactive sessions are designed to provide practical knowledge and tools that participants can immediately apply in their workplaces. By the end of the two-day program, public servants are expected to have a deeper understanding of emotional intelligence and how to leverage it to enhance their professional interactions and overall work performance.
